This month in “Indulge” magazine, Rachael Arthur recommends Oxygen’s Mandarin PH Balancing Mist for keeping skin spritzed on long haul flights, so we thought we’d delve a little deeper into the subject and come up with a few skin care trips for travellers.
- Don’t wear make up, whilst we all want to board the plane looking suitably glamorous, it’s important to remember that a thick layer of foundation and face powder will make your skin dry out even more than normal in the dry cabin atmosphere. If you really can’t bare to go bare, use a tinted moisturiser or light mineral make up instead.
- Drink lots of water, not just once you get on board, but start preparing your body for the toll of a long haul flight the day before and drink more water than you normally do.
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine and fizzy drinks, these will dehydrate you even more, stick to water.
- Avoid salty foods for the same reason, and again it’s worth following these rules in preparation for your flight, at least twenty four hours before you fly.
- Carry a spritzer to refresh your skin.
- Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise! Oxygen’s Womens Intensive Moisturiser would be perfect! If you’re heading for sunny climes remember to also carry one with an SPF factor for as soon as you step off the plane at your destination.
- Apply a lip balm, again the dry cabin atmosphere will play havoc with your lips so protect them.
- Make sure you follow the airline specific rules about carrying gels and liquids, you don’t want to lose all your products as you head through security, decant them into suitable containers if the original bottles are too large to carry.
